The Cause of Inner Pain - The Cause of Voids
I, unfortunately, have 1st hand experience in saying how disconnecting voids are for our body and mind, a vicious vortex that consumes us with sorrow and isolation. The cruel thing about it is, unlike most cases of anger and bitterness… voids, emptiness, do not go away with time; they don’t disappear by us doing nothing. This is because voids are created from the negative subconscious thoughts of who we are. Unless we can come to terms with ourselves, voids won't vanish, since they are created and maintained by our lingering doubts. In short, and there is really no way around it, you have to take action.
You Have to Acknowledge This Emptiness, Not Back-Burner It
What I don’t want you to do is let your pride get in the way of you acknowledging this empty feeling. That’s what prevented me from seeing how stupid I’ve been for so many years (we‘ll talk about that in the “Love and Relationships“ chapter… of course). If you try to keep it hidden, if you try to trick yourself into thinking everything‘s alright, the pain will only worsen. You’re only maintaining the disconnection between you and your emotions until, eventually, you won’t know who you are anymore. Ugh, not knowing who you are anymore is probably the most disheartening things anyone can experience. I say that with 1st hand experience. That said, at the expense of sounding like a Disney Movie, you have to embrace what your heart is telling you, to not keep it locked away. We all experience pain from time to time, but, if you don't acknowledge it, you'll never overcome it.
The Consequences of Ignoring Voids
You see, a lot of people admit they have a void, but they don’t take action. They just leave it alone. What do they do? They try to fill this emptiness with other, potentially life threatening, things as their void continues to eat away at them.
So, what do you fill emptiness with?
What emotions continue to fester your heart?
What has it done to you socially?
Not trying to further depress you, I just want you to see how NOT taking this void head on is doing nothing but causing you more inner turmoil. No matter what happens, you’re going to have to stop turning your back, get your fisticuffs out, and take it down, your problem I mean. It’s intimidating, it’s supposed to be. It wouldn’t be a problem if it were a sweet bunny now would it? :3
Why Voids Are Just Another Part of Life
Life is, after all, a roller coaster of emotions. At some points, you are going to go through a loss, you are going to make some errors, you will have a lot of laughs, joys and good times. Don’t feel like one agonizing loss is enough to convince you that the pain you feel is your reward. You have to get by it so you can experience the other joys life has to offer. Your growth, and all the wonderful experiences you’ll have later in life, stops once you accept your void as a punishment for your own flaws. Remember that, that’s how I once thought. -_-
It’s going to be difficult, but I want you to focus on assessing what your void is, what was the pain that created it, and how you’ll be able to fill it and move on with your life. Your mind is a puzzle; every piece is there for a reason. Don’t let your pride or ego prevent you from connecting those pieces. Only then will you feel whole. |
